Shannon Ellis
Educational Consultant & Child Development Specialist
Shannon, a native of Philadelphia, is committed to enhancing and educating the lives of all children, pre-school through school-age. She has over ten years of experience in urban education systems with an extensive background in social-emotional development, bullying prevention, conflict resolution and behavior change.
Her B.S. in Business Management with a concentration in Marketing from East Stroudsburg University and M.Ed. in School Psychology from Howard University, reflects her personal commitment to education. At Howard, she examined social-emotional development amongst young children in Black communities and continues to be passionate about developing character by promoting kindness and empathy, closing the achievement gap and dismantling educational inequities.
Shannon’s experience in school systems and at non-profits like The National Resource Center for Children and Families of the Incarcerated and The National Black Child Development Institute have led her to strongly believe in the power of media to educate all people and the importance of representation and inclusion of diverse characters, cultures and traditions.
She independently produced a pilot TV show for preschoolers, Reggie & Sasha’s Way and has authored two children’s books, Victoria’s Glow Stick and Almost Like Visiting. Shannon frequently serves as a speaker and conducts workshops around understanding child behavior and creating environments where all children feel loved, supported and belonged.
Shannon is a member of the 2020 National Children with Incarcerated Parents See Us Support Us Month planning committee.
